Keeping Tap Shoes Tied

Keeping Tap Shoes Tied

Don't stress about tap ribbons coming untied on stage. Have parents sew and elastic loop the same color as the shoe through the ribbon holes. Have students wear the shoe just like that or sew the bow ontop of the elastic. Another idea is to use elastic ponytail holders with a one sided hard decoration on it. Thread the elastic side of the ponytail holder through the ribbon holes and secure around the decoration. The Liberts dancewear and costume company actually sell these. Lastly, you can just make sure that everyone as least double ties their tap shoe ribbons.

Pointe Shoe Quick Changes

Easy Pointe Shoe Quick Changes

Do you have a quick change in a middle of a dance from pointe shoes to another style of dance shoe? Remove ribbons from pointe shoes and replace with elastic. Take medium to thick pink elastic an sew it in an "X" across the top of the foot where your ribbons would usually be. You will then be able to slip your foot in and out quickly without the fuss of tying. Slip your foot under the elastic, then cover your toes with the toe pad or lambs wool. You can then slide your wrapped toes into the box of your pointe shoes.
