Happy Holidays Showcase


Scene I

"Happy Holidays"

The Christmas Song- Open the show with an exciting number to The Christmas Song (Holiday Remix) by Christina Aguilera on the album My Kind Of Christmas.


Scene II

"Santa"

Disco Santa- Jazz dance to Disco Santa (Santa Claus/N.O.E.L) by Holiday Express.

Christmas Conga- Change the feel to Caribbean and dance to Christmas Conga by Cyndi Lauper on the Merry Christmas....Have A Nice Life album.

Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer- Honor Santa's lead reindeer by having little dancers perform to Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer from A Family Christmas album.

Santa Is Comin- Tap to Santa Is Comin (In A Boogie Woogie Choo Choo Train) by The Tractors.

Santa Baby- Have your intermediate ballet dancers dance to the song Santa Baby by Kellie Pickler. Costume them is santa dresses with fur trim and Santa hats.

Must Be Santa- Younger dancers can perform to Must Be Santa by Raffi or Kinds Sing'n. Have a dad dress like Santa to come out on stage and close the scene.


Scene II

"Let It Snow"

Snowflakes- Open this scene with the Snowflake Waltz from the Nutcracker Suite. Have pointe students dance in long white classical tutus. Create a snow/winter scene by creating scenery of white, blue, and silver background and decorations. If you have the means, have some snowfall at times throughout this entire scene.

Let It Snow- Dance to Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow by either The Brian Setzer Orchestra or by Michael Buble.

Frosty The Snowman- Some of your littlest dancers can be snowmen, or costume them in winter hats, scarfs, and mittens and have them decorate a snowman on the stage. Dance to the song Frosty The Snowman.

Wizards In Winter- Do a modern or contemporary piece to Wizards In Winter by the Trans Siberian Orchestra.

Ice Ice Baby- Have a hip hop class perform to Ice Ice Baby. Use the Crazy Frog version or a children's version to edit out any inappropriate lyrics.

Snow Angels & Icicles- Dance to the song Snow Angels & Icicles by Kid Pan Alley on the album Tidal Wave Of Song.

Sleigh Ride- Tap to the song Sleigh Ride by Holiday Express.

Suzy Snowflake- Have younger tappers dance to Suzy Snowflake by Rosemary Clooney.

Winter Wonderland- Close this snow scene by dancing to Winter Wonderland. There are many versions of this popular Christmas song. I recommend the versions by Jewel, Toby Keith, or Clay Aiken.


Scene VI

"Reason For The Season"

Give Me This Night- Perform ballet or a contemporary piece to Give Me This Night by Hope's Call from the album This Night. This is a very sentimental song that tugs at your heart.

Carol Of Bells- Perform a modern piece to Carol Of Bells by Hope's Call, a ballet piece by the version on the Moods For A Mellow Christmas album, or the Manheim Streamroller album A Fresh Aire Christmas.

The Christmas Shoes- Get serious again and dance to The Christmas Shoes by Newsong from the album Sheltering Trees.

Breath Of Heaven- Have an older student or one of your teaching staff (or you,) perform Breath Of Heaven by Amy Grant.

Away In The Manger- Continue the theme and dance ballet to Away In The Manger by Martina McBride. Create a manger scene in the background. Costume dancers in lyrical dresses or as stars or as the animals in the manger.

What Child Is This-Greensleeves- Dance lyrical to What Child Is This-Greensleeves by Charlotte Church.

Hark The Herald Angels Sing- Choose robe-like costumes and dance to Hark The Herald Angels Sing by Amy Grant.

Joy To The World- Close this scene in celebration with Joy To The World by Neil Diamond.


Scene V

"Celebrate"

We Need A Little Christmas- Have a fun and happy party on stage and dance to We Need A Little Christmas. There is a version on the Kidz Bop Christmas CD. While dancing, bring in presents and decorate a tree.

Dance Of The Sugar Plum Fairy- Have the dancers from the last dance either fall asleep on stage or have them go off stage like they are going to bed. Dim the lights and have a pointe student do the Dance Of The Sugar Plum Fairy from the Nutcracker Suite. As she dances and waves her magic wand, have the sun rise to Christmas morning.

Presents- Dancers then explode onto the stage in Christmas morning excitement. Have some young hip hopper dance to Presents by the Yo Yo Yo Kids from the Yo It's Christmas album.

More Presents- If you need another present dance, use Presents For Christmas by Solomon Burke.

Jingle Bells- Continue the fun and dance to Jingle Bells by Crazy Frog or from the album Fisher Price-Christmas Sing Along. Use bells for props if you can stand all the ringing.

Scene VI

"Wishing You A Merry Christmas"

We Wish You A Merry Christmas- For the grande finale, have all your dancers come together on stage to do a group dance to We Wish You A Merry Christmas.
