Charlie And The Chocolate Factory Theme




Charlie And The Chocolate Factory


*For this theme, you can recreate the Charlie And The Chocolate Factory Story by just dancing out the storyline or you can have dancers play out the main characters. If you have dancers be the main characters, you can have them dance throughout the show or you can get the audio version of the movies or books to have the characters lip sync parts between the dances.


Main Titles- Before the show starts, play the Main Titles from the Charlie And The Chocolate Factory soundtrack.


Act I


Scene I


"Charlie, His Family, And The Search For The Golden Ticket"


Pure Imagination- Use the song Pure Imagination from the Hit Crew's album A Tribute To Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory. Create a colorful, dance dream that could be a picture in Charlie's imagination.


Hard Knock Life- Dance to Hard Knock Life from the Annie movie soundtrack. Have orphan children dance with buckets, mops, and rags to depict Charlie's life, friends, and neighborhood.


Family- We Are Family (Salsa Mix) by Birds Of A Feather from the Music From The Birdcage album. Even though Charlie is poor he is very close to his family. This dance is a symbol of his unity and love for his family.


I Want Candy- Use the version of the song I Want Candy by Aaron Carter or by the Hit Crew on the Tribute To Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory. Have some younger jazz students perform to this song. Pick matching costumes, but divide the class into 2 or 3 different colors.


Chocolate Explorers- Use the song Chocolate Explorers from the Charlie And The Chocolate Factory soundtrack. Do a ballet or lyrical piece. Make it dreamy and pretty and give the image of searching for candy and golden tickets.


Candy Bar- Dance to the song Candy Bar by Laughing Pizza on the Share A Smile CD. Just have and upbeat fun time.


I've Got A Golden Ticket- Use the song I Got A Golden Ticket from the Hit Crew's album A Tribute To Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory. Do a larger production number. Use lots of the color gold and maybe have large gold tickets for props.


Scene II


Wonka's Welcome Song- From the Charlie And The Chocolate Factory soundtrack.


The Candy Man- Have older dancers tap to The Candy Man song by Christina Aguilera. Do a sassy number and possibly add canes and top hats.


The Candy Man- Use the Hit Crew's version of the song The Candy Man or the original version by Sammy Davis Jr. Have small dancers wear tutus with an apron over the top of the costume. You can also add a bakers hat and a wooden spoon for a prop.


Little Willie- Use the song Little Willie. It is also on the Hit Crew's album A Tribute To Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory. Tap to this song and pick bright purple costumes.


Scene III


Oompa Loompas- Introduce the Oompa Loompas by using the Oompa Loompa song off the Hit Crew's ablum Tribute To Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory. Any sort of crazy, colorful costumes can work for oompa loompas.


Koo Koo For Cocoa- Use the song Koo Koo For Cocoa by the Hit Crew on the Tribute To Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory Album. You may want to switch the order of this song and the next song? Choose brown costumes.


Augustus Gloop- Use the Augustus Gloop song from the Charlie And The Chocolate Factory soundtrack.


The Wonderous Boat Ride- Use the Wonderous Boat Ride track from the Hit Crew's album A Tribute To Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory.


On The Goodship Lollipop- Use the original version by Shirley temple or the Hit Crew's version on The Tribute To Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory album. Have smaller students tap in sailor outfits.


Scene IV


Veruca Salt- Use the song Veruca Salt from the Charlie And The Chocolate Factory soundtrack.


Material Girl- Perform jazz dance the version of Material Girl by Haylie & Hilary Duff or the original version by Madonna. Choose jazz dresses and boas for props.


I Want A New Duck- You could try out the song I Want A New Duck by Weird Al Yankovic.


Disco Ducks- Have beginning jazz students dance to Disco Duck. Any version or the Hit Crew's version on the Drew's Famous Kids Birthday Party Music CD. Costume them in duck costumes with yellow, white, or orange feathers.


Chicken Noodle Soup- Do a hip hop routine to Chicken Noodle Soup by Webstar & Young B.


Scene V


Violet Bequregarde- Use the Violet Bequregarde song from the Charlie And The Chocolate Factory soundtrack.


Bubble Gum- Use the song Bubble Gum by Kids' Night Out on the album Crazy Dance.


Blue- Choreograph some hip hop or jazz to Blue (Da Ba Dee) by Eiffel 65. Of course choose blue costumes.


Scene VI


Mike TeeVee- Use the Mike TeeVee song from the Charlie And The Chocolate Factory soundtrack.


Boot Scootin Baby- Dress your Mike TeeVee character in country western wear, like the original Charlie And The Chocolate Factory movie. Dance to the song 5,6,7,8 (Boot Scootin Baby) by Steps and costume dancers in country cowboy costumes. Do Tumbling, jazz, hip hop, or a combination of styles.


Getting Shrunk- Play out the scene of Mike TeeVee Getting Shrunk and use the music Sunrise from Also Sprach Zarathustra Op. 30. Have Mike stand in from of the shrinking machine and push the button. Have him jump off a platform and disappear. As Willy Wonka is fine tuning the TV, have him velcro a small toy person to the front of the TV screen.


Oompa Loompa Kriss Kross- Have some younger students do a hip hop routine to Jump-Sound-A-Like As Made Famous By Kriss Kross.


Scene VII


Peppermints- Tap to Peppermint Twist by Joey Dee & The Starliters or the version from the CD Toddlers Sing Rock N Roll.


Tutti-Frutti- Tap to the song Tutti-Frutti by Little Richard or the version by the Hit Crew. Select multiple colors of the same costume.


Animal Crackers- Have the smallest dancers perform to Animal Crackers In My Soup. Use any version or the version by Maria Mukdur. Pick a different animal costume for each little dancers.


Candy Rappers- I saw this once on stage. Have a group of dads do a comical dance and have them wear matching, bright t-shirts that say "Sucker" on the front. (Sucker as in lollipops) Have them dance to Shake Your Bon Bon by Ricky Martin.


Gummi Bears- Use the song I'm A Gummi Bear (The Gummy Bear Song) by Gummibar or the Gummi Bears Theme from the Disney Afternoon Songbook. Choose bright colored bear costumes in several different colors.


Grande Finale- Have your entire cast dance to the Wonka/Gloop Mash from the Charlie And The Chocolate Factory soundtrack. Have dancers were their costumes or have them wear recital t-shirts with matching pants or shorts. Have dancers take their bows.
