ACT I


SCENE I


"EXTRA! EXTRA READ AND DANCE ALL ABOUT IT"


Extra! Extra! Read All About It- Open the show with the song Extra! Extra! Read All About It. The Bill Haley version is good for tap and there is a pop version by Svenne & Lotta on the Oldies But Greatest album that is good for jazz.


Newsies- Create a small stage production, newsies style, and use the song Carrying The Banner or The World Will Know from Disney's newsies musical.


Paper Boys- Use the song The Paper Boy by Bill Haley for tap.


No Bad News- Use rolled up and opened newspapers and some benches for props and dance to Don't Nobody Bring Me No Bad News from The Wiz original cast recording.


Headlines- Try using the song Headlines (Friendship Never Ends) by the Spice Girls.


SCENE II


"READ IT, FEEL IT, DANCE IT"


Step In Time- Do a jazzy tumbling number to Step In Time from Mary Poppins.


Consider Yourself- Dance to the song Consider Yourself from the musical Oliver.


You're Never Fully Dressed Without A Smile- This song from the Annie movie soundtrack fits in nicely. Tap to it.


That's Good- Yes, it's kind of weird, but continue with the "feel" and create a number to God That's God from the Sweeney Todd soundtrack.


Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah- Have some of your younger dancers dance to this popular disney song.


SCENE III


"THE GOOD OL' NEWSTAND"


New York Newstand- Use New York New York by Frank Sinatra.


That's Entertainment- Dance to the song That's Entertainment by Rufus Wainwright from the album Rufus Does Judy At Carnegie Hall.


Time Magazine- Use the song Turn! Turn! Turn! (To Everything There Is A Season) by The Byrds and go for a 70's inspired costume.


Season Of Love- Dance to Seasons of Love from the musical Rent.


ACT II


SCENE IV


"LOVE OF BOOKS"


The Book Of Love- Choreography to the song The Book Of Love by The Monotones.


ABC- Since we're dancing about printed words, tap to ABC by the Jackson 5.


ABC Boogie- This song is by Bill Haley & His Comets.


Book Of Days- Do a lyrical piece to Book Of Days by Enya.


Read A Book- This song, Read A Book, is by Linda Arnold and on the album Peppermint Wings: Magical Songs For Children.

"WAITING FOR THE MAIL"


Mailbox Boogie- Tap to Mailbox Boogie by 8 To The Bar.


The Letter- Use the song The Letter by The Box Tops


Mail Myself To You- Use the version of this song by John McCutcheon.


Valentine- Create a lovely ballet piece to Valentine by Martina McBride.

SCENE VI


"WORDS OF MUST & WORDS OF FUN"


The List- Choreograph a contemporary piece to The List by Toby Keith.


Poets- Use the song Society (Ode To Joy) from the Dead Poets Society soundtrack.


Poetry- Have your tiny dancers dance to any version of Ring Around The Rosey.


Poetry Man- Dance to the song Poetry Man by Queen Latifah.


Unwritten- Perform a contemporary piece to Unwritten by Natasha Bedingfield.


More Than Words- Dance to More Than Words by Extreme


Grande Finale- We Will Rock You, the children's version by Waterboy.
