Weather Theme


Weather To Dance

Act I

Scene I

"Rainy & Wet"

Weather Girls- Have older dancers do a high powered jazz dance to It's Raining Men by The Weather Girls.

Raindrops- Younger tap students can dance to Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head. Use any version of the song and costume them in raincoats, rain hats, rain boots, and umbrellas for props.

Rain- Another song that can be used is Rain by Madonna. Use a clean version

Storms- Perform a contemporary piece to Storms In Africa by Enya.

November Rain- Older students can perform a modern ballet to the rock ballad November Rain by Guns & Roses.

Scene II

"Stormy & Dangerous""

Tropical Storm- A song possibility is Tropical Storm by Fly2Project.

Flood- Try to piece of music called Flood by Michael Brook from the Into The Wild original motion picture score.

Tornado- Use simple black unitard costumes and choreograph a modern piece to the Tornado music off of original broadway cast recording of the The Wiz musical. Choreograph lots of lifts.

Thunder & Lightning- Perform jazz to the song Knock On Wood. A recommended version is on the album Generation Disco Volume 2.

Scene III

"Sun & Warmth"

Sunshine- Use the song Pocketful Of Sunshine by Natasha Bedingfield.

Temperature- Perform hip hop to Temperature by Sean Paul

Heatwave- Perform tap to the song Heatwave by Martha Reeves & The Vandellas.

Hot- A great song for beginning jazz students is Hot Hot Hot by Buster Poindexter.

Gonna Make You Sweat- Do some more hip hop to the song Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now) by C & C Music Factory.

Scene IV

"Cold & Snowy"

Snowflakes- Pointe students can perform a classical ballet piece to the Snowflake Waltz by Tchaikovsky from the Nutcracker Suite.

Ice- Perform hip hop to Ice Ice Baby by Vanilla Ice.

Cold- Choreograph a duet to Baby It's Cold Outside. Try the version of the song by Jessica Simpson.

Meltdown- Dance to The Meltdown by John Powell on the Ice Age- The Meltdown soundtrack.

Scene V

"Air & Sky"

Clouds- Small dancers can dance to Castle On A Cloud from the musical Les Miserables. Costume them in light blue tutus, accented with white.

Wind- Combine older students and younger students to perform together in partners. Dance to Wind Beneath My Wings by Bette Midler.

Dust Storm- Try the song Dust In The Wind by Kansas.

Fog- Perform a modern or tumbling dance to Fog Bound on the Pirates Of The Caribean original soundtrack.

Shooting Stars- Use any version of the song When You Wish Upon A Star.

Moonbeams- Check out the song Moonbeam by Jambo on the album planetpals.

Eclipse- Have dancers perform jazz to a rexix or dance version of the song Total Eclipse Of The Heart.

Rainbow- Dance to any version of the song Somewhere Over The Rainbow. Pick the same costume in a variety of colors.
